We are currently seeking a Bridge Inspector to support our growing team in our Dulles, VA office.

Job Responsibilities

The Bridge Inspector is responsible for assisting with the planning, preparing, and performing of field inspections of bridges and other highway structures to include ancillary structures (signal, sign, and luminaire structures). Specific duties include the following:

• Working within the established project budgets and schedules.
• Participates in bridge and ancillary structure safety inspections as required.
  • As directed by Alpha’s assigned Inspection Team Leader, assists with the schedule coordination of bridge access equipment and maintenance of traffic (MOT) vendors, testing technicians, etc.
  • Assists Alpha’s assigned Inspection Team Leader to ensure inspection work zones are safely set up, and all Alpha applicable safety protocols are being followed.
  • Participates in pre-inspection meetings on-site.
  • Assists in the field with performing structure condition inspections.
• As directed by Alpha’s Project Manager or Senior Engineer, is responsible for the preparation of inspection and other technical reports as required for projects.
• Attends project meetings as required.
• Coordinates and cooperates with other Alpha Corporation Engineers and Technicians to assure the success of the assigned project.
• Promotes a work environment that fosters good employee morale with an emphasis on mutual respect.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Specific qualifications for the Bridge Inspector role include:

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• The candidate will have an aptitude for computing and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• At least 1 year of bridge and/or traffic ancillary structure safety inspection experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word is strongly preferred.
• Experience using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD is plus.
• Must be willing to work a mixture of time in the office and time in the field. The mixture will vary depending on project necessity.
• Must be able and willing to workday and night shifts.
• This position requires frequent field visits, 50%+/- field, and 50% -/- office, or as necessary.
• Able to operate and drive large vehicles.
