Position Summary

The Inspector will be responsible for inspecting roadway rehabilitation activities - including paving, surface treatments, patching, and pavement markings, while monitoring associated traffic control operations. The Inspector will also ensure work is performed in accordance with project plans and contract specifications across a variety of construction processes, while conducting field and laboratory quality assurance testing, including material sampling and testing for asphalt and concrete in compliance with applicable standards.

Additional responsibilities:

• Inspect roadway rehabilitation work, including milling, asphalt and concrete placement, surface treatments, patching, pavement markings, and traffic control.
• Maintain project records, including daily reports, material tickets, sketches, calculations, test results, and photos.
• Perform field and lab quality assurance testing, including material sampling, asphalt temperature/density checks, and concrete testing per ASTM standards.
• Support field layout of driveways and tie-ins to maintain proper drainage.
• Coordinate utility and valve box adjustments with contractors and agencies and ensure compliance with erosion and sediment control requirements.

Qualifications:

• 5+ Years Experience
• Experience operating computer equipment, software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, and field-testing equipment.

Physical Requirements

The incumbent in this position can typically expect to sit and use his/her hands to handle and feel for more than 1/3 of the day. He/she can expect to stand or walk for more than 2/3 of the day. Talking and listening are also expected for more than 2/3 of the day. The ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, or reach with arms will be needed for less than 2/3 of the day.

This position requires that the incumbent be able to lift items up to 70 pounds on an infrequent basis.

The incumbent in this position should have clear vision at 20 inches or less. He/she should be able to view various reports and forms as well as information displayed on a computer monitor and have the ability to distinguish between different colors. Depth perception, peripheral vision, the ability to focus, and the ability to see from a distance are also necessary.
